Sage Intacct as a Specialty

A recap of 2022 Sage Intacct projects and why Ticktie continues to be a versatile, independent, and value-added resource for clients of any industry, size, or complexity.

In October 2022, I attended the annual Sage Intacct Transform conference held in Orlando, Florida. It was wonderful to see clients and colleagues in person again. Sage Intacct does a great job at balancing the learning sessions with networking opportunities by providing fun swag, parties, and even espresso bars available during breaks.

I was in the line for espresso and met a woman who led a CPA firm on the east coast. She was desperately looking to hire an experienced implementation consultant. She was very interested in me as I am independent and asked, “What do you specialize in?”. I paused to think about what I do the most or what do I do the best when it comes to Sage Intacct. “I do, and can do, most anything as it relates to Intacct”, I answered. She insisted that I needed to have a specialty focus and did not believe that I could implement and consult on almost any type of company or industry as it relates to a Sage Intacct implementation.

Our conversation was cut short due to the coffee in hand and the need to run to our next sessions. But after thinking more on my response, I was reminded that it is my unique work experience, training, and personality - together, that contribute to my versatility and flexibility as a Sage Intacct consultant. The proof is in the results.

Accounting Degree and licensed Certified Public Accountant (inactive) - I have been able to help my clients with advanced accounting topics as they interface with the Sage Intacct solution. These client challenges exhausted the capabilities of the implementation consultant, often an employee of a CPA firm. Clients were not able to get the help they needed to fully automate or streamline processes in areas such as Global Consolidations, Multi-Currency Management, Inter-entity Bill Back, Advanced Allocations, Prepaid Amortization, Fixed Assets…and more!

Experience as a Sales and Use Tax Auditor - During the first ten years of my professional accounting career my focus was on state and local taxation. Tax audits were like projects. These projects required me to quickly learn about a company’s accounting processes, review their financial statements, and determine what was unique about them. This ability to interview and understand which processes are regulated by third party standards v which processes can be unique and innovative for each company, has served me well when designing Sage Intacct for my clients.

Willingness to Learn - My clients teach me what I do not already know. My job is never boring and never without challenge. In 2022, I was fortunate to learn and assist on the following Sage Intacct projects:

-Configuration of Account Labels and Reporting Accounts to accommodate IFRS and other reporting requirements in foreign countries, including Brazil.

-Design of Chart of Accounts and financial reports to accommodate Cannabis accounting and 280e compliance.

-Implementation of Sage Intacct for three non-profits, including a micro lender, food bank and homeless shelter.

-Design of a shared Chart of Accounts for a Family Office with personal, business, trusts and nonprofit entities.

-Consulting for Senior Living software clients with multiple communities, management companies and ownership structures.

-Migration of inventory and warehouse processes from an integrated marketplace solution back into Sage Intacct.

-Presented options and strategies for customers with aggressive growth plans to scale and easily add newly acquired entities or to phase in existing entities over time into Sage Intacct.

-Archiving of historical data from Sage Intacct to minimize ongoing subscription fees.

I hope 2022 was as productive and interesting for you and your business as it was for Ticktie. In 2023 Ticktie will continue to specialize in Sage Intacct, applying over 30 years of varied accounting experience, creative problem solving, and a curiosity to explore the less traveled corners of the Sage Intacct solution.
